Marian Mahler was another Austrian who left Vienna in the 1930s as Hitler gained control. She
found asylum in London where her Viennese design training contributed to the classic mid-century British modernism.

but her work for David Whitehead captures the look best.

Whitehead hired Jacqueline Groag, Lucienne Day and

other innovative designers.

The  1951 trade fair and post-war celebration

of British design created a fashion for mid-century modern.
