Marian Mahler, Mobiles, 1952
Marian Mahler (1911-1983), Britain
found asylum in London where her Viennese design training contributed to the classic mid-century British modernism.
Is this Mahler displaying her Linear Flowers print
for an ad for David Whitehead?
Linear Flowers
Mahler designed for various fabric companies,
but her work for David Whitehead captures the look best.
Whitehead hired Jacqueline Groag, Lucienne Day and
other innovative designers.
The 1951 trade fair and post-war celebration
of British design created a fashion for mid-century modern.
A few Mahler prints....
Mahler also did book cover design
in the 1940s
